Plans for this September canoe trip are in the very early stage.
For years I have been using the village of Britt to access Georgian Bay through Byng Inlet. Often as I paddled out I would look for the exit of the Magnetawan River and wonder what it would be like to paddle. So I researched it and this is the year I plan to paddle part of it.
The Magnetawan River drains all the way from Algonquin Park to Georgian Bay. We will paddle a section just east of Highway 69. There is a loop that includes parts of both the North and South branches of the Magnetawan River and a number of lakes and tributaries. Part of it is through cottage country but the rest is said to be classic Canadian canoe country. Rivers, creeks, lakes and portages (a number of long ones).
September is said to be the best time to do this trip. This will be a six day trip. The exact dates have not yet been determined. If you sign up early you can have some say in the dates.
Costs will be shared among all participants.
