Weekend Kayak Workshop
Leamington - June 16,17 2018
Two days of "hard-core" kayaking specifically customized to your needs. I will work with a small group of kayakers to help them acquire and hone paddling and leadership skills.
This event should appeal to advanced novice paddlers who are up for a challenge and intermediate paddlers wanting to practice and improve their paddling, rescue and leadership skills.
This event will take place in the Leamington/Pelee vicinity. Exact location will depend on weather, as we will be chaning ideal conditions.
What are the skills covered in this workshop?
The exact skills covered will depend on the needs and desires of the attendees. Some of the skills we can work on are:
Effective forward strokes
Self rescues (including rolls)
What equipment will I need?
You will also need a touring kayak that fits you with all of the paddling gear. If you have a paddle floator deck compass bring that along.
Suitable clothing for the conditions will be required. Be prepared for sun, wind and rain. Temperatures can be ideal at this time of the year. It can also be very hot. Cool temps can not be ruled out. We will likely be spending a fair amount of time in the water so a wet suit or dry suit is a good idea.
Are there any certifications available?
What you can achieve will depend on your starting skills and what you choose to participate in. Some of the ORCKA certifications are available are:
Coastal Kayaking Level 1
